"He was in danger of malnutrition..."

Riley was first spotted by a Hearts Alive Village volunteer between two houses and, evidently, living rough. The team set out to find him.

He was originally adopted by a homeless man and together they spent three weeks living in a van. Riley was already very skinny and in danger of malnutrition, and unfortunately the man was not able to provide the necessary medical attention and adequate food supply that Riley’s already weakened body desperately needed.

As a result, Riley arrived at Hearts Alive Village nothing but skin and bones. When Riley was brought to the rescue, his gums were white and he couldn’t stand on his own. He patiently went through a series of tests to determine his condition and the best course of treatment. He had no energy to object.

But he was nothing but sweet from the start and everyone who met him instantly fell in love with Riley!

"Everybody he's interacted with just falls in love with him..."

While in the care of the team at Hearts Alive Village, Riley was fed every hour and surrounded by the warmth, comfort, and attention he deserved.

Unfortunately, Riley was very weak and his little body was too far gone to save. The grant from TagsforHope provided the funds needed for his emergency treatments and care, but sadly, he passed away.

Even though not all battles can be won, Riley deserved to get this chance of recovery. We are grateful to the countless TagsforHope supporters just like you that allow dogs like Riley to get their fighting chance of getting well and, perhaps, someday finding their permanent family.
